After three solo albums, Nashville mainstay and former Little Texas member Brady Seals founded Hot Apple Pie, a band that offers good-natured, easy-going country rock, as best exemplified by "Hillbillies," "The Good Life," and "All Together Now" (not to be confused with the Beatles song of the same name). Although there are melancholy moments ("Why Can't I Get to You," 'Slowin' Down the Fall") on this self-titled disc, the overall mood is upbeat. Lifted by Seals's charming Everyman persona and anchored by the group's solid instrumental interplay, HOT APPLE PIE is a promising debut, sure to please fans of amiable country-tinged pop.
