With their syrupy harmonies, goofball covers (The Gin Blossoms' "Hey jealousy"; the Peanuts theme "Linus and Lucy"), and South Park sense of humor, The Ergs are perhaps the quintessential pop punk band of the new millenium. The heir apparents to the kingdomn once ruled by the likes of Screeching Weasel and Green Day, The Ergs ride buzzsaw guitars with middle fingers held firmly aloft on nearly every track of this 33-song singles comp. Packed with rare/out-of-print seven-inches, HINDSIGHT IS 20-20 finds the New Jersey-based band paying a debt to their forefathers while also playing a gleefully irreverent game of genre hopscotch ("Country Skronk"; "Million Perfect Dub"). A great introduction for newbies and a nice round-up for longtime fans who may have missed a single here or there.
