Review

Alternative Press (p.147) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "The disc begins with ominous low-end motor-drone accompanied by triumphant, horn-like fanfares. Four minutes in, the synths start whirling with foreboding intensity."
The Wire (p.49) - "[E]pic in scope....The opening track is a vast, deep single chord that rolls over the listener like a wave, created by a fanfare of deliciously abraded vintage keyboard notes."

Title Note

One half of the Pittsburgh instrumental prog duo Zombi, Steve Moore heads out on his own with THE HENGE. Moore trades in the same ominous analog synth flourishes that mark Zombie's horror-soundtrack-inspired work, but THE HENGE also contains a droning, almost dirgey quality. Repetitive keyboard figures are underscored by cinematic washes of dark ambient sounds, and the end result is a sonic apex equal in stature to the ancient monolith referred to in the title.
