Title Note

The large, neo-psychedelic ensemble known as the Warlocks, led by Bobby Hecksher, had been perfecting their trippy, drone-based compositions over the course of several albums before the appearance of 2007's HEAVY DEAVY SKULL LOVER. True to the band's ongoing aesthetic, the album sounds like the mutant offspring of the early Velvet Underground and Spacemen 3. The waves of distorted guitar bliss, washy atmospheres, phased vocals, and mid-tempo rhythms make HDSL one of the most satisfying of the Warlocks' albums. Get a good pair of headphones, sit back, and let the drifting dreams begin.
