New York jazz, country, and rock hybrid guitar player Jim Campilongo is joined by members of Norah Jones's band on this remarkable 2006 solo album, which showcases his idiosyncratic instrumental take on both original compositions and standards like "Cry Me a River" and Stephen Foster's 19th century "Nellie Bly." In addition, singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright and Jones herself feature on vocals--Wainwright on a straight-ahead version of "Beautiful Dreamer," and Jones on one of the two interpretations of "River" presented here. Campilongo is a supple, inventive guitarist, and his attentive backing musicians never falter.
