Rolling Stone (p.115) - Included in Rolling Stone's "50 Top Albums of the Year 2007" -- "Polymorphous indie pleasure-seekers trade noise for sweetness..."

Title Note

Imperial Teen: Roddy Bottum, Will Schwartz (guitar); Jone Stebbins (bass guitar); Lynn Truell (drums).

With a title that answers the implied question, "Why five years between records?" THE HAIR, THE TV, THE BABY & THE BAND marked a triumphant return to idiosyncratic pop mastery for San Francisco vets Imperial Teen. While the lyrics muse on getting older and the more complicated relationships that accompany it, the band never forgets how to balance fun and hooks with its more mature musical take. The freewheeling dance rockers "Shim Sham" and "Sweet Potato" are youthful groovers that punch up a sequence of mid-tempo TUSK-like nuggets such as "Do It Better" and the impish melodicism of the title track. With spot-on production touches by That Dog's Anna Waronker and Redd Kross's Steve MacDonald, THE HAIR, THE TV, THE BABY & THE BAND suggests that, like rock & roll, indie pop--when it's this glorious and ageless--never forgets.
