Recorded at Western Studios, Hollywood, California; Olympic Sound, Barnes, England; Bell Sound, New York; United Recordings and live at The Sands Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada between 1963 and 1971.

This disc features 14 recordings from 1963 to 1971. These songs are markedly lower key than Sammy Davis's style of the 1950s. The mellower treatments, still possessing all Davis's bravura, are magnificent. Look up the word "pizzazz" in the dictionary, and there should be a picture of him.

"Mr. Bojangles," the latest number included here, makes clear that his righteously swinging and soulful delivery has no peer. The relaxed tone, here and on tracks like the 1940s standard "We'll Be Together Again," proves that his talent never relied solely upon the myriad dynamic techniques he usually employed so effusively. His versions of "If My Friends...," "Here I'll Stay," and "Every Time We Say Goodbye," all have depth and feeling.
