Title Note

Personnel includes: Jerry Lee Lewis (vocals, piano); Roland Janes, Billy Riley, Scotty Moore, Sid Manker (guitar); Anne Oldham, Noel Gilbert, Joan Gilbert, Milton Friedstand (strings); Luke Wright (saxophone); W.R. Felts (organ); Leo Lodner, Jay W. Brown, George Webb, Herman Hawkins (bass); J.M. Van Eaton, Otis Jett, Morris Tarrant (drums).

Compilation producers: Jim Wilson, Shelby S. Singleton.

Recorded at Memphis Recording Service, Memphis, Tennessee between November 1956 and August 1963.

While there is some duplication with Rhino's Jerry Lee Lewis collection 18 ORIGINAL GREATEST HITS, this smaller anthology from Sun stands as a worthy contender in his catalogue. Not only are his major rock 'n' roll hits included but also the rare self-penned "It'll Be Me" from 1956 as well as "killer" covers of "Little Queenie" and "Teenage Letter" in which Jerry Lee out-rocks (and out-leers) Chuck Berry and Big Joe Turner respectively. Add a little piano dazzle on "Lewis Boogie," a little country on Hank Williams' "You Win Again" and the many facets of the greatest Southern rocker of them all begin to shine like a crazy diamond.
