Product Notes

GREAT WWII CAMPAIGNS: This collection boasts 50 episodes from various series about the Second World War. GREAT WWII CAMPAIGNS features film from both the European and Pacific fronts with more then 22 hours of footage.

GREAT BATTLES OF WORLD WAR II: History buffs can add to their collection with this set of 15 documentaries about World War II: APPOINTMENT IN TOKYO, ATTACK IN THE PACIFIC, ATTACK: THE BATTLE FOR NEW BRITAIN, THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN, THE BATTLE OF CHINA, THE BATTLE OF RUSSIA, THE BATTLE OF SAN PIETRO, DESERT VICTORY, DIVIDE AND CONQUER, GREAT BATTLE OF THE VOLGA, MARINES AT TARAWA-RETURN TO GUAM, THE NAZIS STRIKE, PAYOFF IN THE PACIFIC, PRELUDE TO WAR, and TO THE SHORES OF IWO JIMA. See individual titles for synopsis information.

VICTORY AT SEA: One of the earliest documentaries produced exclusively for television, the 26-episode VICTORY AT SEA won both an Emmy and a Peabody Award for its accomplishments. Featuring narration by Broadway actor Leonard Graves and a musical score by the legendary Richard Rodgers, VICTORY AT SEA took hours and hours of footage shot by the navy during the Second World War and trimmed it down to create a narrative of the war from the perspective of the major sea battles and maneuvers. Airing in the 1952-53 television season, VICTORY AT SEA went a step further than the newsreel format of the day, while anticipating the coming era when footage from all over the world would be seen by television audiences as soon as events happened.
