Cleopatra' s two-disc Greatest '80s Metal Moments of All Time collection includes some genuine hair metal classics like "Smooth Up in Ya" by the Bulletboys and Poison's "Talk Dirty to Me," indeed representing a couple of the era's greatest metal moments. Elsewhere, the collection features recently recorded renderings of the originals, including modern rock versions of White Lion's "Wait" and "When the Children Cry," a note-for-note remake of "Round & Round" by Ratt, and a cover of the classic Scorpions ballad "Still Loving You" by Steve Whitman. ~ James Christopher Monger

Cleopatra' s two-disc Greatest '80s Metal Moments of All Time collection is awfully sneaky. While genuine hair metal classics like "Smooth Up in Ya" by the Bulletboys and Poison's "Talk Dirty to Me" may indeed represent a couple of the era's greatest metal moments, the majority of the tracks gathered here are drab, recently recorded renderings of the originals. If your idea of '80s excess includes dreadful modern rock versions of White Lion's "Wait" and "When the Children Cry," a lame note-for-note remake of "Round & Round" by Ratt, and a horrendous cover of the classic Scorpions ballad "Still Loving You" by somebody named Steve Whitman, then this middle finger of an anthology is right up your alley. ~ James Christopher Monger
