With little fanfare and even less messin', Frayser Boy stakes his claim to a place in the Three 6 Mafia hierarchy with this ear-popping collection of tight beats and crunk rapping that'll go over big with longtime fans of the Dirty South and its thick-as-molasses, heavy-with-menace production values. The title track is a spare, grainy beat punctuated by the Boy's idiosyncratic style that's won him a multitude of fans since his debut on the Mafia's DAT'S HOW IT HAPPEN TO 'M. Meanwhile, with the sparse instrumentation and dark subject matter of "I Had to Get 'M," Frayser displays the skilled rapper's talent for describing dark deeds while simultaneously retaining the sympathies of his audience. Though he perhaps hasn't yet acquired quite that flair for the unapologetically down-and-dirty content of his Three 6 Mafia mentors, with GONE ON THAT BAY, Frayser Boy is obviously well on the way to becoming yet another rap icon of the Dirty South.
