Title Note

Intimate song structures and strong melodies lurk in American Analogue Set's third album. Oblique male vocals take their cues from jazzy, mid-tempo rhythms amid mellow keyboard tones. As with previous albums, the band's folk inspired sounds give props to Nick Drake while lending an ear to fellow Texans, Bedhead. In fact, "It's All About Us," sports a familiar melody that can be found on Bedhead's last album, TRANSACTION DE NOVO. However American Analog Set distinguishes itself with longer, traditionally timed songs and Farfisa accompanied melodies.

On "The Wait," handclaps signal the end of the song, with Stone Roses-era simplicity. American Analog Set's Brit-pop influences wink at Ride's spacious pop and furtively wave at The Verve's orchestrations. A piano begins the following suite of three songs, "New Drifters I," "II," and "III," evolving into an organ, which then turns into a guitar-based storyline, proving that the subtleties of composition are paramount in this band's songwriting.
