Issued in 2003, THE LAST DON is a key album in the rise of reggaeton, and it elevated Don Omar to widespread recognition, both in and beyond his native Puerto Rico. Boasting sterling examples of the style's engaging mix of hip-hop, dancehall reggae, and traditional Latin music, the record serves as a nonstop party mix en Espanol, with highlights such as the shuffling "Intocable" and the immediately catchy "Dale Don Dale." Although Don Omar would expand his sound on subsequent releases, this outing remains one of the singer/rapper's undisputed classics. (Note: The '06 GOLD SERIES reissue of THE LAST DON includes two bonus tracks.)
