Album Description

John Rossall's musical career has spanned four successful decades. The 1960's saw John acting as bandleader and musical director for various artists in the UK and Europe. He performed with the Mike Leander Showband and appeared on recordings as diverse as "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones to 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore' by the Walker Brothers, as well as many other international hits. He formed The Boston International, a successful recording band in Germany and performed all over Europe with the band during the 1960's and early 1970's. In 1972, he received a phone call from Mike Leander, who had co-written with Gary Glitter a now-legendary song called 'Rock & Roll Part 2', a UK chart hit. Mike asked John to form a band to perform the record: ...enter The Glitter Band. John toured the world with his band during the 1970's, amassing millions of record sales and inciting hysteria wherever they appeared. Harvey Ellison joined The Bostons in 1970 having previously worked with Root and Jenny Jackson and backing U.S. acts like Billy Stewart, The Impressions and Charlie & Inez Fox. In 1974, John Rossall co-wrote (with the late Gerry Shephard) the first solo single for the Glitter Band. The song was 'Angel Face', which went on to be a million-seller worldwide. More hits followed: 'Just For You', 'Let's Get Together Again', both Top 10 hits, and 4th record 'Goodbye My Love' reaching #2 in the UK charts. At this point, John left the band, and signed to a major label. He released two solo records: I Was Only Dreaming and It's No Use You Telling Me No, both records selling well in both the UK & Europe. Harvey remained in the Glitter Band touring and recording until the early 80's, after which he formed his own band The Power of Soul. The Glitter Band have been busier than ever of late as the demand for the genuine retro sound becomes ever greater. John and Harvey shared the bill along with the Bay City Rollers at the Armadillo, Glasgow for the recent Blast From The Past 2005 concert organised by and helped to raise over 30,000 for the Tsunami Orphan appeal. They've also been busy making many appearances on local TV and radio stations and are spending some free time in the studio. Angel Air 2008.
