I pretty much liked every song on this cd, which is unusual for me! She has a
very unique & different voice, and once you hear it, you will remember it, in a
good way. Her music has been compared to KT Tunstall, The Indigo Girls, & Missy
Higgins. To me, she sounds a little like Janis Joplin. Her current cd “Give
Up The Ghost" is kind of bluesy, a little country, and a little rock & pop
thrown in. Sounds like a smorgasboard, but it really does work. Several songs
are pretty catchy, and her music has been played on the tv show Grey’s Anatomy,
which I think is pretty cool!

I feel in love with this CD during the first listen, and continued to enjoy it a
little bit more each and every listen. Brandis voice is rich and soulful. Her
songs make her a story teller. She has an unique sound that is refreshing in
todays autotuned vocals pop scene.

This album has a soulful feel to it. Her voice and lyrics are a little rough but
the feel of the album reminds me a little of the Indigo girls.

Give up the Ghost hits all the right notes, October 27, 2009

I always enjoy listing to Michael Buble and this is no exception. I expect to
hear some great covers and this album provides that – I particularly enjoyed
“Cry Me a River” – it was a new take on the song – the intro to the song is
great and is not at all what I expected. His voice as always is smooth and
reminiscent of past greats. However, I really enjoyed his two new songs as
well. “Haven’t Met You Yet” is an upbeat, fun song that you can’t help but sing
along with and feel happy when hearing it. "Heartache Tonight" is another
upbeat song on the list and provides a perfect compliment to some of the slower
songs like "Youre Nobody Until Somebody Loves You". “Baby (You’ve Got what it
Takes)” is a great duet and is another of my favorites on the album. Overall,
this new album is a great addition to Buble’s work, providing a great mix of old
and new, and hits the mark.

Brandi Carliles, Giving Up The Ghost, is one of my all time favorite albums in
the last year. I have listened to this album more times than I can count. The
songs have a country folk sound that is twinged with pop. Brandi has this unique
voice that showcases her songwriting and storytelling abilities. Her band
members Celloist Josh Neumann, Phil and Tim Hanseroth help make this album
unique and memorable. My favorite tracks are Dreams and Dying Day They touch you
heart in a soulful way and leave you wanting more. Dreams, has a classic old
sound that I remember listening to many years ago. With the help of producer
Rick Rubin, this album Giving Up The Ghost is one of Brandis best. I recommend
it to any and all ages.
