As with numerous other introspective singer-songwriters, Ingrid Michaelson became known to the world at large through her music being featured on the TV show GREY'S ANATOMY. Those GA viewers who are pulled in to GIRLS AND BOYS by the presence of "Corner of Your Heart" will likely appreciate the rest of the album, which harks back to the mid 1990s, when piano-wielding female tuneweavers like Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos made news by daring to wear their hearts on their sleeves. Michaelson's delicate melodies and fragile, breathy singing recall the aforementioned era while still sounding quite contemporary.
