Review

Spin (pp.101-102) - "[T]he album's disorienting structure helps him dismantle hip-hop's redundant beats-and-rhymes cliches with reckless, unpredictable momentum." - Grade: B
Uncut (p.96) - 3 stars out of 5 - "[With] a dense, cartoonish production that sees dusty breaks, found sounds and snippets of conversation tossed together like the contents of an upturned toy box."
Vibe (p.145) - "Madlib's helium-voiced alter-ego rolls up hysterical tales..."

Title Note

Personnel: Quasimoto (rap vocals); MED, Madvillain, Melvin Van Peebles.

THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF LORD QUAS is the second collage of glorious madness from the gifted MC Quasimoto. Quasimoto is actually versatile producer Madlib, at his most demented, bizarre, and magnificent. The album opens with maniacal, Vincent Price-style laughing, before Madlib announces his alter ego, who launches into a twisted sermon somewhere between the Geto Boys and Eminem. At one point Quas quips "I flow similar to cool whip Tabasco," about as valid a description of his quirky style as any. That track, "Bullysh--," is diverted into a 1950s radio-announcer skit, then returns to the sound of psychotic rhymes. This is par for the course on THE FURTHER ADVENTURES, a deliriously inventive record that combines artful sound-sculpting, funk, hip-hop, and more into a brilliant stew for one of the most inspired records of 2005.
