Over the years and several albums, A.B. Quintanilla transformed himself from Selena's younger brother to an internationally renowned Latin pop superstar in his own right. FROM KUMBIA KINGS TO KUMBIA ALL-STARZ (2006) finds the sensation not only changing the name of his previous hit-making outfit (previously the Kumbia Kings) but also perfecting the brew they established: hip-hop inflected Latin pop that's heavy on danceability and mic skills--basically, a Latin pop variation on reggaeton. Ready-made dance hits like "Mami" and "Chiquilla" are nicely tempered by ballads like "Dijiste," ensuring appeal across the board.
