The Bacon Brothers Artist Snapshot:

Kevin Bacon has been acting in movies since 1978, and his brother Michael Bacon has been composing for TV and film since about the same time. Although they've been singing together since they were kids, their official recorded debut in 1997 surprised and delighted critics and fans alike. Their unflashy music combines country, folk, classic rock, and a little bit o' soul for a pleasing mesh that does not scream "side project." Several albums later, the duo still perform regularly in between acting and composing gigs.

Review

Dirty Linen (4-5/99, p.73) - "...extremely personal and heartfelt....This is an honest CD on which there's some good music being made and fun being had..."

Title Note

The Bacon Brothers: Michael Bacon (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, cello); Kevin Bacon (vocals, acoustic guitar).

Additional personnel: Paul Guzzone (vocals, bass, electric 12-string guitar); Jon Bon Jovi (electric guitar, background vocals); Larry Gold (cello); Jonathan Edwards (harmonica); Andy Snitzer (tenor saxophone); Irwin Fisch (Wurlitzer, organ, harmonium); Frank Vilardi (drums); Marshal Rosenberg (percussion).

Recorded at Avatar Studios A & B and Bacon/Fearless Studios, New York, New York.

Although most musical projects involving celebrities are inevitably eclipsed by stardom, the Bacon Brothers, featuring prolific actor Kevin Bacon and his TV-composer brother Michael, are a fine exception to that rule. On their 1997 debut album, FOROSOCO, the Bacons offer up a charming set of country/folk-informed rock, with both siblings on vocals and guitars. Highlights of FOROSOCO include the nostalgic "Old Guitars," the spare "Brown Eyes," and the gently wistful "Adirondack Blue." Closing out the record is a playful live take on Kenny Loggins's "Footloose," a track that acknowledges Kevin's fame in a laid-back, good-natured way.
