FORCA BRUTA is one of Jorge Ben's best albums, and the 2007 reissue is cause for celebration. Although there are more eclectic albums in Ben's catalogue, and ones that groove harder (the superb AFRICA BRASIL, for example), FORCA BRUTA shines with a mellow charm that is instantly likeable. As on his best albums, both the songwriting and musicianship are excellent, but FORCA BRUTA is unified by a sweet, samba-swept vibe that will transport any listener to a sandy Brazilian beach on first listen. Even better, the album holds up to repeated plays, revealing more layers to Ben's fine writing and gorgeous singing voice.
