Mesh Match For "For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night" CD by Caravan:

Caravan Artist Snapshot:

Part of the same Canterbury scene as Soft Machine, and sharing a similar pastoral prog/jazz sensibility, the British band Caravan presaged the cheeky humor and melodic daring of bands like 10cc and Sparks. Although they are revered as part of the prog pantheon, especially in England, the band never got much beyond cult status in the U.S. A regularly changing line-up from 1968 through the '80s included, at points, Rupert Hine and Lol Coxhill, as well as mainstay Pye Hastings, and Hastings has revived the band sporadically throughout the '90s and 2000s for recordings and gigs.

Title Note

FOR GIRLS WHO GROW PLUMP IN THE NIGHT is a 1971 release by Canterbury progressive rockers Caravan.

Remaster adds extra songs.

1973 classic of jazzy prog rock that finds Canterbury's finest reunited with their original keyboardist Dave Sinclair.

Throwing jazz and rock together in the same musical stew is almost always a dangerous idea. For every BITCHES BREW, there are a thousand Spyro Gyras. Canterbury, England's Caravan, however, is the rare exception that unites jazz sensibilities with a thoroughly rock approach, creating something wholly unique in the process. FOR GIRLS WHO GROW PLUMP IN THE NIGHT reunites the band with original keyboardist Dave Sinclair and new viola player Peter Geoffrey Richardson, and the result is perhaps the band's most accomplished long-player. This 2007 reissue includes a few great demos as well--most notably "Derek's Long Thing" and "Surprise, Surprise."
