Review

CMJ (12/16/02, p.23) - "...A groove-oriented death metal album with a fancy for classic thrash..."

Title Note

Audio Mixer: Michael Rozon.

Recording information: Speed Semen Clove Factory (08/2002).

The bulk of For All Our Sins, the debut full-length album from Crematorium after a few EPs and singles, is a death metal onslaught that fans of Nile and old Cannibal Corpse would appreciate, but that's only the beginning. The Los Angeles group incorporates hardcore, grindcore, and doom metal (the band rewrites "Laguna Sunrise" on "A Disconsolate Winter Landscape," which lead into the crushing, slowly grinding riff of "The Dying Place"), black metal, while a few tracks such as "Through Adversity" and "Cast The Stone" could even appeal to N Metallers looking for some fibrous crunch in their diets. By being able to ride the wave of diverse metal-core outfits while staying true to their death metal roots, Crematorium offers the best of both worlds without selling either one short. ~ Brian O'Neill
