The 2005 demise of the revered emo act the Get Up Kids signaled a flurry of activity for singer/guitarist Matthew Pryor, including two albums with the New Amsterdams (one shelved but finally issued in '07) and a children's record under the guise of the Terrible Twos. AT THE FOOT OF MY RIVAL, the third New Amsterdams outing, shows that Pryor has decided to make the band his main focus, as evidenced on bright, melodic indie-rock tunes such as "A Beacon in the Beige" and "Without a Sound (Eleanor)."
