Xavier Rudd Artist Snapshot:

Folk-rock singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd is the Jack Johnson of the Land Down Under. The surfer and musician plays a supremely mellow form of acoustic folk infused with various world-music instrumentation--much of which is integral to the native music of his homeland, most notably the didgeridoo. Rudd has developed a strong following thanks to relentless touring, and a live show that finds the intrepid artist himself playing all the various instruments that populate his sound. Although it took a few years, Rudd finally scored a deal with the American label ANTI--which released his fourth album, WHITE MOTH, in 2007.

Title Note

Surfer peacenik Xavier Rudd channels Dave Matthews, G. Love, and especially Paul Simon on his debut for Anti-, 2007's FOOD IN THE BELLY. The Australian singer-songwriter's amiable blend of percussive acoustic guitars, mellow grooves, and tasteful world-music accents ("Pocket of Peace" boasts a didgeridoo) is the perfect musical backdrop for Rudd's hushed, uplifting vocals. This album will surely appeal to crunchy college kids and eco-warriors searching for some positive vibes.
