Review

CMJ (7/1/02, p.18) - "...The two weave a tapestry so intricate that one loose thread would unravel everything....These women sound like honey. Prepare to get sticky--and enjoy every minute of it."
Mojo (Publisher) (1/03, p.102) - "...FLOETIC, with its jazzy, laid-back grooves - bears all the hallmarks of the new Philly sound. Sassy, sexy and yet acutely sensitive, Floetry excel at luxurious ballads..."

Title Note

Floetry: Marsha Ambrosius, Natalie Stewart (vocals).

Producers include: Keith "Keshon" Pelzer, Darren Henson, Vidal Davis, Andre Harris, Ivan Barias.

Recorded at A Touch Of Jazz, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and The Mill Studios, Norfolk, England.

"Say Yes" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. FLOETIC was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Contemporay R&B Album. "Floetic" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best Urban/Alternative Performance.

Even if you think you're not familiar with the British R&B duo of Natalie Stewart and Marsha Ambrosius, you may have already heard their work. Even before releasing their debut album FLOETIC, the pair penned songs for everyone from Michael Jackson and the Roots to Bilal and Eric Benet. Moving to Philadelphia (a soul town if ever there was one) helped to bring even funkier grooves out of the pair, as heard here. There are no clever production gimmicks or cynically crafted, do-or-die hooks on FLOETIC; instead Floetry presents honest, organic material that can accurately and quite literally be described as "soul music." Earnest vocal performances full of sensuality and joy get the message across, and often-mellow grooves accentuate the duo's late-night slow-jam sensibilities. Anyone enamored of "neo-soul" artists such as Kelis, Musiq, and the aforementioned Scott should find an easy way into FLOETIC.
