Title Note

Chances are good that these aren't the Vogues you're looking for. Park South Records was a bargain basement imprint that seemingly existed for the sake of foisting poor quality packages of demos, live recordings, and re-recordings on unsuspecting consumers. Their anthology Five O'Clock World is a reissue of the 1995 Sun Records CD Greatest Hits: Finest Performances, a collection of re-recordings performed by a latter-day incarnation of the Vogues missing the original members of the group. The Park South edition rearranges the songs from Greatest Hits: Finest Performances and dishonestly replaces the picture of the imitation Vogues (a trio) with a vintage photo of the original group (a quartet.) Stranger still, Sun Entertainment Corporation owns the recordings, but the packaging gives no indication that Park South legitimately licensed them. The music itself is well-recorded and professional sounding, if you're interested in hearing what is essentially a tribute band sing the Vogues' greatest hits. ~ Greg Adams
