Review

Alternative Press (12/99, p.92) - 3 out of 5 - "...the selections are extremely effective and emotive....Dust Brothers hold their own this time in the ring."
Muzik (12/00, p.59) - Included in Muzik's "Top 10 Electronic Soundtracks" - "...Their] grimy disco gives [this film] an undeniable edge..."
Mojo (Publisher) (12/99, p.123) - "...suitably disturbing....the album is a curio for only the most obsessive fans..."

Title Note

Original score composed by The Dust Brothers (Michael Simpson, John King).

Studio wizards the Dust Brothers (John King and Mike Simpson) are best known for the hip-hop-laced electronic soundscapes they've built behind Beck (ODELAY) and the Beastie Boys (PAUL'S BOUTIQUE). Abandoning pop music for a moment, King and Simpson turn their talents to the soundtrack of FIGHT CLUB. For this film about consumerism and catharsis in the modern world, the Dust Brothers created a moody synth-based tapestry full of foreboding. The overt pop techniques of their previous work are eschewed in favor of something more atmospheric. The turntable scratches of "Who is Tyler Durden," the dark trip-hop feel of "What is Fight Club?," and the breakbeats on "Single Serving Jack" provide ample sonic fingerprints, but FIGHT CLUB finds the Dust Brothers venturing into new territory as well.
