Title Note

Covering songs from most of Fiona Apple's 2005 masterpiece, Extraordinary Machine, as well as a few from her other albums, An Extraordinary Tribute to Fiona Apple is an insult to the singer. Not only are the covers pointless (why not just buy the actual album?), they're not good, either, often substituting keyboards for pianos and drum machines for a real set. While the "group of friends & studio musicians" (taken from the back cover) known as Sarah Cherri & the Nector manage to get through "Extraordinary Machine" and "Better Version of Me" without butchering them too much, their interpretations of "Fast as You Can" and "Criminal" are simply, well, criminal. The album, even with its two bonus tracks (originals presumably by someone in the Nector), is not only a waste of money and time, it's an affront to all music in that not only does it cover Apple's work poorly, it tries to take advantage of her fans by tricking them into buying something that they really don't want. Don't pay attention to the album cover; An Extraordinary Tribute to Fiona Apple is nothing that any fan of hers would ever want. ~ Marisa Brown
