Product note

Formed in Manchester in 1998, Oceansize play smart neo-progressive rock with complex arrangements and time signatures that turn on a dime. On their second album, songs like the ethereal "Meredith" and "Music For a Nurse" owe a debt to Radiohead, both musically and in singer Mike Vennart's Thom York-style delivery, while "The Charm Offensive" and "No Tomorrow" build their pastel-shaded verses and grinding choruses on the sturdy foundation of drummer Mark Heron's meticulously placed beats. If the elegant organ and angular guitar of "Mine Host" shows more than a passing acquaintance with early Pink Floyd, the prog progressions of "You Can't Keep a Bad Man Down" display the influence of Floyd's later incarnation, as well as the early work of King Crimson, Yes, and Genesis.
