From the opening bell and the trademark "let's get ready to rumble" declaration of ring announcer Michael Buffer, JOCK JAMS delivers a hearty dose of dance tracks that range from hip-hop (Naughty By Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray") to house beat (Black Box's "Strike It Up").

If JOCK ROCK was for athletes, JOCK JAMS is for the cheerleaders on the sidelines. Tommy Boy Records goes on the road to pull up regional favorites from as far south as Florida--for the 69 Boyz's Luke-inspired "Tootsee Roll"--and as far north as New York City--for K7, whose clever use of baseball-leaning double entendres makes "Come Baby Come" a risque invitation to play ball.

Since dancing is an international activity, Germany's 2 Unlimited ("Get Ready For This") and Snap ("The Power") line up alongside Belgium's Technotronic ("Pump Up The Jam") and Britain's EMF ("Unbelievable"). Then, all these DJ gems are brought home by Gary Glitter's old fave, "Rock And Roll Part 2" (aka "The Hey Song").
