Russian-born, NYC-raised comedian Eugene Mirman became a staple of his home city's indie comedy scene by the '00s with his absurd observations, sly political rants, and bizarre viral videos, all delivered with a ironic drawl distinctly his own. His trademark schtick of reading his own bad reviews and heckling e-mails on stage (often with the now-sheepish writer on stage) exemplified Mirman's unique brand of post-internet meta-comedy, equal parts self-deprecating and self-aggrandizing. Sub Pop records captured the fearless, cherubic comedian's spry act on a series of LPs.
