Title Note

Initial pressings of ELOCATION include the acoustic bonus track "Let Me Down."

Contains the hidden track "Break Down Doors" which follows the bonus track "Let Me Down."

Default: Dallas Smith (vocals); Jeremy James Hora (guitar, background vocals); Dave Benedict (bass); Danny Craig (drums).

Canadian neo-grunge band Default was discovered by Chad Kroeger, fellow Vancouver native and lead singer of platinum-selling hard rock group Nickelback. The association is clearly apparent, as Default employs a very similar combination of anthemic and undeniably catchy choruses, heavy guitars, and commanding baritone vocals. Where the junior band differs, however, is in the details--in the tradition of maple-leaf metalheads Triumph, the combo tempers the arena-angst with a big dollop of good old heartland rock & roll.

On many tracks, such as the earthy "Crossin' the Line," guitarist Jeremy James Hora lets loose with some nice lead work that wouldn't sound out of place on a Circus of Power album. Like Southern alt-rockers 3 Doors Down, the band imbues its songs with an old-school rhythmic groove that gives even the slower numbers a nice kick. In addition, the band isn't afraid to step a little outside the confines of its chosen genre, as evidenced by a cover version of the obscure Jeff Buckley/Gary Lucas composition "Cruel."
