On its 2006 outing, EISENHOWER, the Boston-based rock trio the Slip continues to straddle the border of jam-band and indie-rock territory (in a vein similar to that of Southern peers My Morning Jacket). Led by singer/guitarist Brad Barr, the group conjures up the ghost of '90s alt-rock, while adding adventurous flourishes in its song arrangements (particularly with percussion), as revealed on the dynamic and propulsive "Even Rats."
