Staying true to the emo tradition of cumbersome band names and record titles, the Receiving End of Sirens still manage to break with the style's other norms on the ambitious 2007 concept album THE EARTH SINGS MI FA MI. Clearly more enamored of keyboards than most of their peers, the Boston-based ensemble opts for songs that move along like mini-suites, as evinced on the synth-pop-inspired "Swallow People Whole" and the dynamic "Smoke and Mirrors."
