Title Note

Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen: John Tichy, Bill Kirchen (vocals, guitar, background vocals); Billy C. Farlow (vocals, acoustic guitar, background vocals); Commander Cody (vocals, piano); Steve Davis ("The West Virginia Creeper") (steel guitar, pedal steel guitar, background vocals); Andy Stein (fiddle, saxophone, background vocals); "Buffalo" Bruce Barlow (bass guitar, background vocals); John Farlow (bass guitar); Lance Dickerson (drums); John Copely (percussion).

This two-disc set collects a treasure trove of rare, live, and unreleased tracks from country-rock outfit Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. Recorded during the group's early days in Ann Arbor, Michigan, prior to the release of their 1971 debut, LOST IN THE OZONE, the 35 tracks here are loose and amiable, and recall the Grateful Dead at their most carefree, sans the heady Haight-Ashbury vibe. While the recording quality can be a little suspect at times, the band's loveably gritty takes on country, honk-tonk, bluegrass, and Texas swing should appeal to anyone interested in true-blue '60s country rock.
