Dream Theater are an influential "prog-rock" band who have made their interpretation of the genre unique by adding a twist of thrash metal to it. Remarkably popular without having to resorting to Mtv propaganda, the Theater display their passion and flair for performance on METROPOLIS 2000. Directed by the band's drummer, Mike Portnoy, this video features the band's landmark August 2000 concert appearance at New York City's Roseland Ballroom, during which they played their entire acclaimed album, SCENES FROM A MEMORY.

I love Dream Theater. I own almost all of their album. To complete my collection, I purchase this DVD. I was expecting to experience a 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound from this DVD in my home theater, boy was I wrong! Only a weak stereo sound (although there is a Dolby Digital symbol in DVD cover) and the picture quality is a sin to watch. It is even more horrible to watch it in my 50" plasma. I tried to play it in a blu ray disc player and regular dvd player, tried to upscale to higher res, still horrible. After tweaking for 15 minutes I gave up. It is so not worth it. Maybe because this DVD is so old (2001?)and originally from VHS and just copied and mass produced to DVD. However, Tower.com service is excellent.
