Terence Trent D'Arby burst onto the scene in the 1980s with a mixture of R&B, funk, rock, soul, and pop that sounded unique and totally familiar at once. Unfortunately, D'Arby never followed up his breakthrough album with increasingly solid efforts. While the hit singles from his 1987 debut, INTRODUCING THE HARDLINE ACCORDING TO TERENCE TRENT D'ARBY, made that album a million seller, his follow-ups suffered from lack of focus and over-ambition.

His erratic career trajectory makes a well-assembled compilation the perfect D'Arby purchase, and DO YOU LOVE ME LIKE YOU SAY fits the bill. Featuring 17 tracks, this best-of not only covers the well-known hits ("Wishing Well," "Sign Your Name"), but pulls the finest moments from his second, third, and fourth releases, and includes remixes, B-sides, collaborations, and live tracks. The mix--varied, catchy, intriguing--shows D'Arby for the talented musical eccentric he is.
