Title Note

The Django Reinhardt-influenced French guitarist Birelli Lagrene is heard in two settings on this double CD. On the first, he plays electric guitar with Germany's WDR big band, performing a set of arrangements inspired by the gypsy guitarist, including the tightly arranged "Place Du Tertre" and the lyrical "Djangology." On the second disc, he's heard in a live solo acoustic set, in which he's given the chance to stretch out in a series of dazzling improvisations, including the crepuscular "Bar De Nuit" and "La Belle Vie," an impressive reworking of the pop standard "The Good Life."
