Yeah, Rita Hayworth sang too. Everybody's favorite red-headed temptress actually doesn't have much of a voice, but she acquits herself nicely on the 19 songs on the second disc of this collection, which range from cutesy novelties like "What Does An English Girl Think of Ya, Yank?" to standards like a perfectly credible rendition of "My Funny Valentine." She certainly comes off much better than most of the movie and television stars who have recorded albums over the years. However, in comparison to the 20 Marlene Dietrich classics on disc one, Hayworth sounds strictly amateur. This is through no fault of her own; Dietrich is simply a far superior song stylist. A well-chosen collection of Dietrich standards including fine renditions of her signature songs "Lili Marlene" and "Falling In Love Again," disc one of DIVAS is an excellent introduction to the work of one of the great artists of her era.
