The productions of the NYC duo of James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy under the moniker Death From Above (DFA) have become synonymous with the merging of dance music and indie rock. As erstwhile punks influenced by hip-hop and electronic music, the pair look back to New York's early '80s underground to formulate their own distinctive sound--a heavier, darker, rawer, and more intense take on their influences. DFA REMIXES CHAPTER 2 compiles eight fully remade/remodeled, and otherwise remixed versions of tracks from the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Goldfrapp, and Junior Senior. Peeling back layers of guitar-fueled distortion and manic percussion, DFA crafts glittering disco gems from dusty rock grooves.
