For the past several months, I have not been able to commit either time or
energy to a good book (a fact which I have been fairly distraught about!) until
I picked up a copy of this new Sedaris collection. This book goes everywhere
with me - the subway ride to work, lazy sunday mornings on the back patio, I
have even taken to listen to the audio version while at work and laughing so
hard that I startle my co-workers.
The best thing about David Sedaris is that
you can pick up any one of his essay collections and dive in - there is no need
for starting in sequence or back fact-checking. He is a masterful storyteller
capable of making even the most mundane incidents hilarious!
I highly recommend
the essay entitled "Town and Country" which is included in this collection.
