When I was a kid we had HBO.  This was before cable boxes and channel changers.
My parents bedroom was 2 flights up from the den where the tv set was. I used to
stay up late and watch movies with my face 6 inches from the screen and my hand
on the dial in case I heard them coming.  I dont know which was worse--this,
Clockwork Orange--or the beating i would get for watching an R-Rated movie at
age 10!  I think Blazing Saddles even scared me to death....
