This movie possibly has the best depiction of war ever put on to celluloid.
Steven Spielbergs use of a hand held camera, and the mix of computer generated
and old school special effects, make the viewer feel like they are in the heat
of the battle. I dont mean in the Rambo "whoa! What a cool explosion" kind of
way, but the more authentic "Whoa that was close I better run for cover". And
this is just the first 20 minutes, and it worth the price of admission alone.
This being said there are some moments in the film that are quite forgettable,
and cliched. There are some great performances by Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore and
Barry Pepper. Over all it is a strong movie.
