If you like the commercial songs of "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" you wont like
"High N Dry" nor the bands debut "On Through The Night". Emerging from The New
Wave Of British Heavy Metal" (NWOBHM) in the late seventies/early eighties, Def
Leppard were a bunch of extremely talented teenagers, especially guitarists
Steve Clark (RIP) and Pete Willis. "High N Dry" released in 1981 and the bands
second effort in my opinion was their best release. The band smokes on every
track and the song "Bringin On The Heartbreak" gave the band a hit thanks to its
heavy video rotation on MTV. Other standouts include "Let It Go", "High N Dry
(Saturday Night)", "Another Hit And Run", "Lady Strange" and On Through The
Night". This cd was released prior to Ex-Girl guitarist Phil Collen joining the
group replacing Pete Willis. Collen would make his debut on 1983s "Pyromania".
From there the bands music became much more commercial with hits like
"Photograph", "Animal", "Armageddon It", "Pour Some Sugar On Me", etc.
