Gruff but tuneful, roots reggae singer Glen Washington has a rugged, careworn voice that recalls the scratchy vocals of legendary roots artists like Burning Spear and Earl Zero. Since the late `90s, Washington has been dividing his attention between socially conscious roots tunes and classic lovers rock in the mold of John Holt and Beres Hammond. DESTINY is very much of a piece with other Washington releases on VP such as WANNA BE LOVED and NUMBER 1 GIRL, and ought to please both newcomers and longtime fans.
