Title Note

Originally issued in 2000 only on vinyl, the DESCAMINO EP finds the desert-dwelling indie-rock act Calexico offering up selections from 1998's THE BLACK LIGHT for reinterpretation by its peers. Bundy K. Brown (Tortoise) creates a jazzy, down-tempo mood with "Dia De Los Muertos," a track that foreshadows future atmospheric releases by singer/guitarist Joey Burns and company, while Calexico collaborator Tasha Bundy reworks "Chach" into a hypnotic excursion. The band itself contributes "Triple T Truckstop," a nearly ambient instrumental number that rounds out the EP and reinforces Calexico's ever-adventurous nature. Though not ideal for those new to the group's mariachi/spaghetti Western sound, DESCAMINO will appeal to devoted fans of the prolific act.
