Review

Vibe (8/99, p.180) - "...ChaCha's empowered, bourgeois-ghetto-girl performance...takes center stage....[her] lyrical deftness is definitely worth the price."
Rap Pages (11/99, p.160) - "...a well-rounded collection of young adult drama, princess tales and a few hardcore expressions of thug life....She's for real....without a doubt, a strong, legitimate addition to Hip-Hop." - Rating: B

DEAR DIARY is the debut release from Atlanta teenage rapper Cha Cha. Filled with hot tracks and guest appearances from some of hip-hop's reigning kings, DEAR DIARY has 13 songs that are guaranteed to please. Guest stars include Nas ("M.O.M.M.Y") and labelmate Jim Crow ("Ride Out"), who give DEAR DIARY a well-rounded sound. There are hard-hitting posse cuts as well, including "WhereDaPaperAt?," which features Ja Rule, Memphis Bleek, Bareda, and Blackchild; and "It's Like That," which features Trick Daddy, Juvenile, and Jim Crow.

Cha Cha's vocals follow in the vein of those of Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim. Some of the other worthwhile cuts include the title track, "He Likes," and "New Millennium." Doing far more than just hold her own, this young MC shines with DEAR DIARY.
