On her 2006 debut, teen singer-songwriter/guitarist and MTV reality-show star Cheyenne Kimball presents a confident set of rock-tinged pop songs that bring to mind a fusion of Avril Lavigne and Sheryl Crow. Fans of the CHEYENNE TV series, which depicts the ambitious Texas-raised 15-year-old recording and promoting this album, will be happy to find that the tunes here, most notably the energetic "Hanging On" and the bouncy "One Original Thing" (featured on the AQUAMARINE soundtrack), are eminently catchy and pop-savvy. Although THE DAY HAS COME features mainly upbeat tunes, it also has quieter, more introspective moments, such as the pensive "Four Walls" (written for her ailing father) and the delicate "Full Circle," revealing that Kimball, who co-penned every song, is a surprisingly well-rounded young artist.
