Proving once again why Great Britain is a potent source of heavy metal, Malefice unleashes its second studio effort, DAWN OF REPRISAL. Combining elements of power-groove, thrash, death metal, and metalcore, Malefice sounds more akin to American stalwarts Lamb of God and God Forbid than any of its melody-driven countrymen. Thick, meaty riffs reminiscent of Pantera's heyday permeate the album, making DAWN OF REPRISAL the perfect mosh pit accompaniment. Recorded and mixed by Dan Weller (Sikth) and Justin Hill, Malefice's sophomore release is a blistering example of how one cannot judge a band by its nationality alone.
