Having forsaken the dense synthetic instrumentation that dinstinguished his work throughout the '80s, DART TO THE HEART--masterfully produced by T-Bone Burnett--signals Bruce Cockburn's musical journey back to his traditional roots. The stately pedal steel work of Greg Leisz and Colin Linden's bluegrass-styled mandolin accentuate the country side of Cockburn's song stylings, while David Leonard's spare horn arrangements spotlight the more playful, rock n' roll aspects of the singer's approach.
